Vision:

"Jesus, Hope, and Love for All"

For Compassion leaders and members, the above is more than a vision; it's our way of living. It is our ethos and culture.
The Compassion focus is threefold:

The Message of Jesus
He is the answer to everything, the example to live by, the Way to wholeness and peace, the Truth to live for, and the Life to follow after. His message of the Kingdom transforms our lives and fills us with the Holy Spirit as we repent and surrender to the New Life He invites us into. Salvation is both for the here and now and the life to come.

The Hope of God
There is a way out, a way through, and a way to overcome. He is our hope that will get us through and sustain us to the end.
For us, we believe the best is always yet to come. As a Church we want to walk beside you in discovering this hope.

The Power of Love
Everyone deserves to experience the love of God which wipes all sin and transforms us. All of us are prodigal daughters and sons   realizing we are more than enough in his eyes. Join us in creating a church community that resembles the church Jesus died for. True, honest, redeemed, and alive.

This is where we are going. To a place where all experience Jesus, Hope, and Love.

Mission:
"Go and Do Likewise"

Taken from a story Jesus tells in Luke 10, this phrase focuses on the importance of imitating the character of a certain man in the story. The man Jesus recognizes demonstrated extreme compassion and love to someone who was in need. In affirming the actions of this man Jesus tells the audience that they are to “Go and do likewise.” In 1 Corinthians 11:1 the Apostle Paul takes this same understanding and applies it to the life of Jesus. He says, “Imitate me as I imitate Christ.”

In the early church they focused their actions on copying the pattern of Jesus. They became passionate about proclaiming not just the message of Jesus but also the actual life of Jesus. We take this very seriously. We seek to allow the Scriptures and life of Jesus to inform our ethics, decision making, life choices, and everything else in between. Everything from how we look at people,  how we vote or interact in society, and how we treat all people—enemies and friends. We believe that by faithfully following this pattern we will see all people come to experience Jesus, Hope and Love through our consistent efforts of living like Jesus.

Values:

1. The Holy Spirit will lead us.
The Holy Spirit was given to the Church to lead and guide us as seen in John 14-16. We are a Spirit-Filled community that believes and seeks to practice the gifts and ministries of the Holy Spirit as seen in 1 Corinthians 12. We believe it is this same Spirit who anoints leaders for the ministry they are called to in Ephesians 4:11.  In all areas we seek to have the Holy Spirit lead the way.

2. Diversity is a gift from God.
The Church is at her best when she is diverse. This involves intentional steps that involve all aspects of how the Church functions. Our desire is to become a diverse group of Jesus Followers which includes diverse races, languages, and cultures. This extends as well to the diversity of both of both women and men in all areas of Church governance and leadership.  We do not seek to build this through "token" actions but rather holistic transformation with intentionality over time. Along with the above diversity we also strive
for diversity in areas of thought and conviction.

3. Be faithful in the basics: prayer, Scripture, and serving others.
We keep things simple. In a world that is so complex we believe that what we see in Scripture is a continued emphasis to focus on three key actions: pray, study the Scriptures, and serve others. From our youngest to our oldest we seek to instill within our Church a desire to do these three things well and with excellence.

4. We’ll do whatever it takes.
When difficulties arise we will not quit. When there are people who need the love and hope of Christ—we wont stop until they have heard. When there are challenges within the church or community—we wont give up. When there are challenges in front of what God has spoken—we will press in and seek God even more. We will trust the Holy Spirit and focus on innovation and creativity. We will do things no one is doing to reach people no one is reaching.

5. We make wrong things right.
Jesus says, “May your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” A core tenant of the Kingdom of God is that we the church creatively brings the Kingdom of God in the here and now wherever there are ills, pain, or suffering in society. Therefore, in all things we stand for the justice of God and the ethics of Jesus.
In doing so we are making wrong things right. We like to think everyone is “dealt a hand” just as in playing cards. We want to ensure everyone’s hand is fair and right the best we can since no one can control the hand they have been dealt.

6. Everyone has a purpose; everyone has a role.
We work to help all people see their infinite value as children of God as well as the gifting's they possess. In the use of each person’s gifting and passion we will see their God given purpose shine through. We believe that to be Christian means to be like Jesus. Therefore no one is a consumer or spectator. All of us are following the leading of the Holy Spirit as He guides us in our daily lives to be “in the game”—not on the bench. Whether it is within the walls of Compassion or outside of them; everyone has a purpose and everyone has a role.
